Sunday night, on our way to church, we were less
than 5 seconds behind this collision . (Sam said more
like 3) 135th is a country road and it was quite a while
before another car showed up. Sam administered
CPR to Joann until the medics got there.
(yes, Shelley, they got it wrong. She was not driving,
he was.) It was a year ago that Sam did the same for
Kaylie. Emotions were running a little high,
but I told my sister Kim last night that maybe God
didn't want us feeling so sorry for ourselves.
And, we were
so grateful, we weren't part of the
fatalities. I drove to the spot yesterday and was
a little taken back at how close we really were
when it happened.
All that to say... we were praying Joann would make
it. Now we are praying for the families. If you
read this, do the same.

Post-Tribune staff reportCedar lake -- The drivers in a two-car collision on 135th Street near Patterson were killed and a passenger injured Sunday evening. Thomas Christie, 32, apparently swerved over the center line as he drove west on 135th, striking Jo Ann White and her husband, William, as the couple drove east. Christie died at the crash scene. Jo Ann White, 64, died at Saint Anthony Medical Center about an hour later. William White was injured in the crash. The speed limit near the intersection is 30 mph. The Lake County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
We're all missing her a little more today.
